Installation

1. What are the minimum and recommended System Requirements for Stock Investor? Top
Stock Investor requires the following minimum system specifications to run effectively:

2. Will Stock Investor run on an Apple Computer, such as an iMac or iBook? Top
Stock Investor is designed to run on IBM-compatible computers, however some clients have been able to use Stock Investor on Apple computers using programs such as PC-Emulator. As the software was not developed to run in this configuration, should a client who has installed Stock Investor on an Apple computer require technical assistance, support will be provided on a best effort basis, and no guarantee of a fix can be given.

3. Can I install Stock Investor on more than one computer? Top
Stock Investor is marketed with a dual installation/single user license. This means that you can install the software on two separate machines, for example a desktop PC at work and a laptop computer or a PC at home. At time of installation, HUBB will note the details of each machine on which the software is installed. The HUBB organization will use these details to confirm each users registration details each time Stock Investor connects with the HUBB data server. The maximum number of machines that a single user can install the software on is two (2). The dual installation capability is provided for the convenience of users who use more than one machine. However, the data service will only supply one PC with data at a time. When data is requested from the second machine while the first machines data session is active, the first machine will be advised that its session is being terminated. The second machine will then open its data session with the HUBB server.

4. Where do I get my Stock Investor Serial Number from? Top
Your serial number will be emailed to you once you have successfully filled out the order screen on the StockInvestor.com website. Please keep this email in a safe place should you need to re-install Stock Investor on your computer. If you did not receive your serial number, call Stock Investor Technical Support, who will verify your order details before providing you with your serial number.

5. What if I need to re-format my computer, or if I upgrade to a new computer? Top
You will need to call Stock Investor Technical Support to arrange for your serial number to be unlocked.

How to Install Stock Investor Data

1. What Data do I get Markets For? Top
At this time the only data is for U.S. markets is avaiable.

2. Can I get Intraday or Real Time price data? Top
At this stage Intraday or Real Time data is not available to Stock Investor clients. Price data is provided End of Day and includes Open, High, Low and Close prices as well as Volume data.

3. What time is End of Day data made available? Top
Price data is provided end of Trading Day and is made available on the Hubb servers for download to Stock Investor clients approx 2 hours after market close.

4. Where does Stock Investor source its data from? Top
Stock Investor price and fundamental data is sourced from various exchanges and 3rd party data providers. Regardless of the data source, all data is downloaded to Stock Investor from Hubb Servers.

5. How do I update my data?
Stock Investor uses Data on Demand to update both price and fundamental data on an as needs basis. Data on Demand can be used to update price charts and quote pages. When you open a chart or a quote page, Stock Investor will automatically retrieve data from the Hubb server for that chart or quote page.

6. How do I change the Default Settings for Data on Demand? Top
The default setting for Standard Data on Demand is 36 months. To change the default setting, do to File, then click on Settings. Then on the Application Settings window click on the Remote Data tab. Here you can change the Data on Demand settings by editing the number of months or years of data you would like to receive. NOTE: The data that you download using Data on Demand will be saved to your local database. if you use Data on Demand on a price chart, the data on that particular chart will still be available to you even if you disconnect from the internet.

7. What if I see bad data on a chart such as data spikes or missing data? Top
Click anywhere in the chart, right click, select Data on Demand and Custom. Enter the number of months/years required and click OK. Stock Investor will refresh your local data with that updated server data. If the problem remains please contact Stock Investor Technical Support.

Downloading Data

1. I use a wireless internet connection and cannot download data. Top
If your Internet connection is connected through a wireless network, you may need to change a setting within Stock Investor to allow you to download data files. To do this, click File, Settings, and select the Connection tab. Under Other Settings click on Advanced Connection Settings, tick Passive Mode FTP and click OK. If the problem still persists please contact Stock Investor Technical Support for further assistance.

2. I use a broadband/cable/ADSL connection and cannot download data. Top
This is generally caused by the security settings on your computer being set to extremely high levels. In the majority of circumstances, changing the connection type from FTP to HTTP will resolve this. To do this, click File, Settings, and select the Connection tab. Click on Advanced Connection Settings. Under connection type, click on the Use HTTP radio button, then click OK. If the problem still persists please contact Stock Investor Technical Support for further assistance.

3. Using Stock Investor with Firewalls and Anti-Virus Software Top
If you are still unable to download after following the above procedures, then the most likely cause is that your firewall software is clocking Stock Investors access to the Internet. Firewalls are programs that restrict Internet traffic to and from your computer. Microsoft Windows XP comes equipped with its own firewall application, however there are a number of 3rd party Firewall applications such as Norton Internet Security, ZoneAlarm Personal Firewall and McAfee Personal Firewall Plus. Each of these programs has the functionality to allow clients to add Stock Investor to the list of safe programs it will allow to access the internet.

For example, to add Stock Investor to the list of safe programs in Windows Firewall:

This will launch the box below that will contain all installed software applications. Search in this list for Stock Investor.

Stock Investor has now been added to your exceptions list in Windows Firewall.

For 3rd party programs, such as those mentioned at the beginning of this article, please refer to the instruction manual for that program, or contact the manufacturer of the Firewall software for assistance.
