While it may not be essential reading, a basic understanding of the types of data, where it comes from and how the data services are set up can help users to understand how data is accessed and used by Stock Investor.
There are five types of data in Stock Investor:

All Price and Fundamental Data in Stock Investor is managed with reference to System Data, specifically to individual Symbols in the system data.
Users cannot access data for a security unless its symbol has been downloaded with Stock Investor's system data and saved in the symbols database.

All data used in Stock Investor is in a proprietary format developed by HUBB Financial Services.
The data comes from a variety of markets and a variety of sources. Regardless of where it comes from, when it is downloaded from the HUBB server it has already been converted to the HUBB format and is ready for use in Stock Investor.
Stock Investor currently accesses all United States markets and exchanges and supplies stock, indices and options data.

While Stock Investor always requires a current data account with HUBB Financial and will always be the default data provider.
