Stock Investor currently supports stock, index and options data for all exchanges in the United States.
Markets are referred to on a national basis, and each market may be comprised of many exchanges. For example, the United States Market has the New York Stock Exchange, Chicago Board of Trade, Philadelphia Stock Exchange, etc.
For Stock Investor users, all stock exchanges which HUBB has an agreement with are included in the standard data service.
If a new exchange or market were to be added, the Update Manager's system data will add the new market to the Symbols Maintenance Wizard's advanced list. You will then be able to add that market's symbols to your local drive using the Wizard.
Symbols are part of Stock Investor's system data and are unique identifiers for each security in each exchange.
Price data can only be retrieved by referring to a symbol that has been downloaded and saved on the local PC. Symbols must be downloaded and stored locally in order for Stock Investor to reference the price data for that security.
All symbols for a particular market are downloaded together.
You determine which symbols are installed on your PC by selecting markets at time of registration, or afterward using the Symbols Maintenance Wizard. In Stock Investor's case United States is the only currently Available Market.
Once a selection of markets is made, all of the symbols for each of the selected markets will be downloaded onto your machine and those symbols will be maintained every time you run the Update Manager.
Users will have to use the Symbols Maintenance Wizard to download the symbols for new exchanges or markets should they be added to the list of supported markets.

Note 1 If you try to retrieve a symbol and you do not have the symbols installed you will get the following message:
Note 2 If you have installed the symbols, but are not subscribed to a particular market's data service, you will get the following message:
Note 3 If you do not have the symbols and are not subscribed the first error message will display. If you then upload the necessary symbols using the Symbols Maintenance Wizard, but are still not subscribed, then you will get the second error message. The software always checks the symbols database first, before sending a query to the server at which point the user's account is verified.
