Auto Sales up in November Thanks to Discounts (Reuters)

Major automakers marked November as their best month of U.S. sales in more than six years. Aggressive discounting and the popularity of pickup trucks contributed to the rise. “The sales rate for cars increased so dramatically in the last several years,” said Jesse Toprak, an analyst with research firm Truecar.com. “The fear might be that it’s not going to hold up beyond next year.” Toprak said he does not share this view.
