Record low temperatures recorded around the United States Sunday and Monday have two potential vectors for moving agricultural prices. Cold temperatures will require livestock producers to more heavily feed their animals, potentially cutting into corn stocks and raising the prices of the animals. Contrarily, if the Illinois or Mississippi rivers are closed due to freezing, grain prices could fall because elevators and other grain sellers cannot move their product.
