Who’s Right about the Market, the Bulls or the Bears?

“Bears make headlines, bulls make money.” — Old Wall Street saying.

Today at FreedomFest, the bulls Alex Green (Oxford Club) and Keith Fitz-Gerald (Money Map Press) are taking on the bears Peter Schiff (Euro Pacific Capital) and Bert Dohmen (Wellington Letter). I’ll be the moderator, although I am definitely biased toward the bulls.

The event will be live streamed at 11 a.m. EDT (8 a.m. PDT). Click here to see it live at no charge.

By staying fully invested, subscribers to Forecasts & Strategies have beaten the market and returned more than 11% year to date. In fact, one of my best-performing picks is fast becoming a favorite with income investors everywhere. Follow this link to more about my “Super 7” recommendation.

Despite Fed policies, terrorism, the oil crisis and the Brexit vote in which U.K. citizens chose to withdraw from the European Union, the bulls are still running high after six years. It is still conceivable to end the year at an all-time high. To quote George Foreman, “This market can sure take a punch.”

But how long can it last? It depends a lot on how long interest rates can stay low.

You Blew it!

Freeways are Not Free – Costing $2.37 Billion a Year!

I’m here at FreedomFest in Las Vegas and I have noticed congestion everywhere while driving around the city.

It is becoming typical of all major metropolitan cities. In a recent report from the Highway Users Federation, “Unclogging America’s Arteries 2015: Prescriptions for Healthier Highways,” the top 50 bottlenecks in the United States are in Los Angeles, New York, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Boston, Seattle and the Washington, D.C. area. Interstate 95 on the East Coast and Interstate 5 on the West Coast are the worst.

The cost of delays is monstrous: totaling $2.37 billion a year in wasted gasoline and repairs.

Economists and transportation experts have known the cause for years: freeways! Users don’t pay the full price of the cost in time and money for driving on freeways.

The solution has always been to build more roads, but a better solution is to impose proper fees for driving on the highways and roads in America. We are gradually moving in this direction, with HOV and HOT lanes and fluctuating fees based on use (higher prices during rush hour).

They ration highway use this way in Singapore and, as a result, there are hardly any congestion problems there.

As Bob Poole, Reason Foundation’s expert on transportation issues, states, “In many cases the answer will be toll-way or no-way.”

Slowly but surely the transportation problem can be solved.
