Five Ways to Profit by Day Trading

Five ways to profit by day trading give investors of various experience levels a chance to succeed under the guidance of market veterans.

Those five ways to profit by day trading involve joining a community of fellow investors, following step-by-step instructions, aiming for one winning trade a day, responding quickly to a signal and learning fundamentals and strategies through training. For those who want to avoid the losses often incurred when learning how to day trade, expertise is available to avoid financial missteps.

Two seasoned investors have banded together to form a partnership to offer five ways to profit by day trading. Those five subscriptions range in price, time commitment and risk.

Five Ways to Profit by Day Trading: SPY Sherpas

Hugh Grossman, a retired internal auditor for a Fortune 500 company, is the senior partner of the pair and has amassed years of first-hand experience in developing his own system for day trading in SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) options. Grossman eschews tricky trades like spreads, preferring to stick with calls and puts by combining fundamental and technical analyses.

Ahren Stephens began studying the markets in his teens, focusing on research and analysis. He opened his first trading account as an 18-year-old and has studied the stocks, foreign exchange (forex) and commodities markets for more than 20 years.

After the market’s crash in 2001, Stephens started learning technical analysis in the forex market. He also is a licensed commodity broker, who served as an analyst at a multi-million-dollar firm before teaming up with Grossman on a mission to help protect investors from the financial pain that can be all too real, especially for new day traders.

Those familiar with the treacherous conditions of climbing massive mountains like Mt. Everest, a peak in the Himalaya Mountain range between Nepal and Tibet, can appreciate the value of sherpas who serve as guides to those unfamiliar with the challenges and how to survive them. Even though Grossman and Stephens do not ascend 8,849 meters, or 29,032 feet, to the highest point on Earth, they describe themselves as similarly focused on aiding those they serve, as they seek to help investors profit and minimize their risk.

Five Ways to Profit by Day Trading: Inner Circle

One of the five ways to profit from day trading is through advisory service called Inner Circle, Grossman told me. Inner Circle is a subscription service that all traders should be a part of to receive a snapshot of what the upcoming trading day may look like, he added.

Grossman and Stephens send a report to the inbox of each Inner Circle subscriber each trading day just after 9 a.m., ET. That morning “Market Assessment” encapsulates where the duo sees the SPY going that day, up or down.

“Later in the day, we send out a summary of what happened in the market, including what we traded,” Grossman explained. “In addition, participants are invited to our weekly meetups on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m., ET, where we discuss the events of the day.”

Inner Circle members can ask any questions they want in the interactive sessions, which are recorded to allow for later use, as needed. The Inner Circle was the first service provided by DayTradeSPY, dating back to May, 2010. Another benefit is that it opens the lines of communication with Grossman and Ahrens, if members need quick answers to any questions they email.

Five Ways to Profit by Day Trading: Trading Room

The second of the five ways to profit from day trading is through a service called the Trading Room, Grossman said. Every morning, 9:20 to 10:30 am ET, Grossman said he and Stephens host the Trading Room, a virtual meeting where training and trading converge in a live, real-time market environment.

Participants are invited to interact with the duo directly through a “Questions” box. Unlike other trading rooms, this subscription-only Trading Room is not a coffee club or a drop-in center where whoever has the microphone controls the discussion, Grossman advised.

“Instead, our Trading Room is an event where we discuss the market-influencing news of the day, then interpret the technical indicators, bringing it all together to prepare us for our trades,” Grossman said. “We demonstrate our ‘Out of the Morning Gate (OMG) trade,’ ‘scalps,’ $10k Challenge and other opportunities that present themselves. This ‘learn and earn’ vehicle is ideal for those who want to quickly and effectively learn how to day trade SPY options… now in its 14th great year as the longest running Trading Room.”

Five Ways to Profit by Day Trading: Pick of the Day

The third of the five ways to profit from day trading is by using Pick of the Day. For investors who are unable or unwilling to do premarket analysis, the Pick of the Day is emailed to subscribers around 9:15 a.m., ET daily.

That SPY option is to be purchased at the market’s open when the bid/ask spread settles in “tight,” within just a couple of cents of each other, Grossman explained. Once purchased, the option is to be placed for sale immediately at a standard profit target of 6%, he added.

However, usually much more of a profit could be attained by those who pay attention and ride the option trade as the gain grows, Grossman counseled. The Pick of the Day is producing a success rate of more than 96% on average, but is even higher when considering that the duo calculates returns using “very conservative” numbers, Grossman continued.

“In other words, you would likely buy it at a lower price than what we claim,” Grossman said. “Should the sell not fill, the Pick of the Day may be held overnight, likely to be filled the next day. Let us do the heavy lifting with the Pick of the Day, requiring only a few minutes a day.”

Ahren Stephens uses analytics as co-head of Pick of the Day.

Five ways to Profit by Day Trading: DayTradeSPY Signal

The fourth of five ways to profit by day trading is a new service named DayTradeSPY Signal. The latest addition to the duo’s line of products provides an email and a cell phone text message of an imminent trade, Grossman told me.

“The particular option is sent to the subscriber to be purchased within the next two minutes, then put up for sale,” Grossman explained. “We determined after much testing and tweaking that a 5% gain is the ideal sell point for maximum long-term gains. The ‘Signal’ usually sells rather quickly, almost always the same day. But in the unlikely event it does not, this trade is to be sold at market close for whatever the market will provide.”

Even though the DayTradeSPY Signal advisory service has similarities to Pick of the Day, it is triggered off a real time algorithm with expected gains provided very soon after it is released, three to five times weekly, Grossman counseled. Its success rate also tops 96%.

“It is perfect for those who like to trade but are unable to watch markets all day,” Grossman said.

Five ways to Profit by Day Trading: Use ‘Ultimate Training Workshop’

The fifth of five ways to profit by day trading is through an exclusive “Ultimate Training Workshop,” offering 11 pre-recorded sessions, Grossman said. Each workshop is about an hour and a half in length.

“No stone is left untouched in this outstanding program,” Grossman opined. “Learn options fundamentals, money management techniques, how to build confidence and the mental aspects of trading in our focused modules. Move on to master our technical indicators with the support and resistance and chart patterns segment.”

Subscribers to the Ultimate Training Workshop also can find out how the Greeks affect market price, then delve into the strategies, Grossman continued.

“All traders should know how to repair trades gone bad, which is included,” Grossman told me.

The workshop series finishes with Stephens offering a deep dive into using the Andrews Pitchfork and Fibonacci retracements in his demonstrations. In addition to a full training course, the duo offers recorded Online Workshops.

Five Ways to Profit by Day Trading: Beware of Geopolitical Risk

The White House warned this week that Congress needs to approve additional funding for Ukraine to continue fending off Russia’s invasion and ongoing war against its neighboring nation.

“Cutting off the flow of U.S. weapons and equipment will kneecap Ukraine on the battlefield,” Shalanda Young, the Office of Management and Budget director wrote in a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R., La.). “There is no magical pot of funding available to meet this moment. We are out of money—and nearly out of time.”

House and Senate Republicans are insisting on gaining additional funding for U.S. border security as a condition for their approval of tens of billions of dollars in new aid for Ukraine. So far, the Democrats have not been able to forge a compromise.

Congress thus far has approved more than $100 billion to help Ukraine defend against Russia’s invasion and continuing attacks, including military strikes on civilians.

Meanwhile, Israel is under pressure from critics to wrap up its offensive against Hamas militants in Gaza who conducted a murderous, military-style assault on Oct. 7 of many communities of that sovereign nation that triggered the start of a two-month-old war. Israeli soldiers are preparing to take action in southern Gaza’s largest city, Khan Younis, in what may become a key battle in the search and return of an estimated 138 hostages taken by Hamas fighters.

War and related economic fallout can have deleterious effects on companies whose businesses are based or conduct operations in war-torn nations and others nearby that trade with them. The five ways to profit by day trading offer short-term opportunities to produce quick returns to minimize the potential fallout from geopolitical risk.
