U.S. Manufacturing Expands at Fastest Rate since April 2011 (Reuters)

The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) reports that, contrary to economists’ expectations, national factory activity hit its highest mark since April 2011, 56.2. A poll of economists had predicted activity would fall to 55. The ISM report also showed a jump in employment, but a drop in the new orders index, a forward-looking measure.
